The 100 Layers Challenge Is The Grossest New YouTube Trend, But We Can’t Look Away
Like the pioneering explorers of the world before her, Jenna Marbles — a modern Sir Francis Drake with a YouTube account — seeks answers to the unknown. For instance: What would happen if you simultaneously wore 100 layers of foundation, self tanner, nail polish, lip gloss, hairspray and faux eye lashes all at once?
On July 21, the YouTube sensation posted a new video online called "Ultimate 100 Coats of Things Video," and it's exactly as gnarly as it sounds like, resulting in a globby, goopy, sticky mess of furry lashes, caked-on foundation and an unintentionally problematic fake tan.
It's horrifying... and we can't stop watching it.
The clip is in response to the current trend of YouTubers (particularly those within the makeup tutorial community) posting videos of themselves literally applying 100 layers of a cosmetic product, whether that be mascara (yikes), foundation (OH GOD NO) or Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits (somebody call 911).

There comes a point in everyone's lives when you have to ask yourself: Is it worth it?
Let me work it. I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it. In Jenna's case, the question came and went and the answer was clearly a resounding yes. She did pass 'Go,' and she did collect, um, 100 layers of potentially semi-toxic cosmetics, and she smeared them all over her fragile, unsuspecting human face and body in the name of cheap digital entertainment.
For that, we thank/pray for her. Watch below.
