Who knew that this 16-year-old Christian singer with pigtails would later grow up to be one of the most popular pop stars in music?

Recently, a video featuring Katy Perry as a young teen Christian singer has popped up online from a man who documented her in 2001.

We see a different side of Katy - a bubbly, hopeful girl before she hit stardom with 'I Kissed a Girl.' Some of the video footage shows her behind the scenes as a young artist, such as  giving a tour of her bus, making jokes like, "I'm pretty conceited!" and "I usually put loads of makeup on before a show, because I'm a pizza face! Would you like pepperoni or cheese?"

But then we see her raw talent on stage, where instead of the heavily synthesized pop we usually associate her with, she sings with only the help of a guitar, a microphone and a little bit of percussion.

Perry's confidence can be seen in this video, which paints a picture of a superstar in the making. "I'm with the best Christian bands. And I'm on tour with them and hanging out with them and they actually laugh at my jokes. It's awesome!"

She also shows some humility as a singing teen, saying, "I always want it to be a gift. I don't want it to be a gig. I hate that. Everyone thinks I'm a superstar or rock star but that's not how I am at all. I'm just some little kid from California who plays the guitar and sings. I write what I think needs to be written."
