With an assist from Katy Perry, the 2011 MTV VMA nominations were announced at 11 PM ET. The preview came during Perry's Seattle stop on her tour. Perry lead the noms this year with a total of 9, so congrats to the 'Firework' singer, who is still rocking her lighter hued locks and looks like an entirely different person.

Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown and Kanye West were all notables that had multiple noms, as did Nicki Minaj.

But perhaps the biggest shocker of this years nominations? That Lady Gaga had but one VMA nomination, for 'Best Female Video' for the epic 'Born This Way' clip, outside of technical categories.
