This Sunday’s 2011 MTV Video Music Awards are sure to be full of surprises and excitement --- and now there will be a somber, yet honorable moment: Tony Bennett has signed on to be part of a special Amy Winehouse tribute.

Bennett -- who duets with Amy Winehouse on her first posthumous release ('Body and Soul') -- will be joined by Lady Gaga and Adele on stage, two starlets already confirmed as performers at the 2011 MTV VMAs. According to NME, studio sessions of Bennett and Winehouse from his upcoming ‘Duets II’ album will be featured prior to the performance.

Amy’s father had nothing but good things to say about MTV and the awards. “Our family is honored that the VMA's are giving Amy this wonderful tribute," he told NME. "We know that Amy's performance of 'Rehab' at the MTV Movie Awards played an important part in Amy's worldwide success."

'Body and Soul' will be released on Amy’s birthday, Sept. 14. An Amy Winehouse album may soon follow -- according to her label, there are 12 unreleased songs she recorded before her death.

Gaga will be performing the opening number at the awards ceremony and according to MTV, Adele will probably be performing her second single 'Someone Like You.'
