2011 PopCrush Music Awards: Artist of the Year

Perhaps the biggest acknowledgement of our 2011 PopCrush Music Awards in the award for Artist of the Year. If you were to look back on the year, it's pretty safe to say that 2011 was dominated by female pop divas, with a couple of exceptions.

Mother Monster and international superstar Lady Gaga heads up our list, as she saw massive success with her 'Born This Way' album and countless other projects this year (a photo book, her Monster Ball tour, the list goes on). Next up is the one and only Adele, who blew the world away with her amazing pipes and superior songwriting on '21.'

Britney Spears also had a big year, making a comeback with her 'Femme Fatale' album and world tour. Following Brit is none other than teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, who released his biopic 'Never Say Never' in 2011 and also dropped his Christmas LP on top of a plethora of other endeavors.

Additionally, Rihanna ruled in 2011, with hit after hit off of her 'Loud' album, a world tour, and her new album 'Talk That Talk.' Beyonce also had a momentous year, releasing her album '4' and her 'Live at Roseland' concert DVD on top of announcing her pregnancy. Taylor Swift won award after award in 2011 for 'Speak Now' and also trekked across the U.S. on a sold-out, out-of-this-world tour.

Nicki Minaj really established herself as the reigning rap queen in 2011 with her debut LP 'Pink Friday,' and also proved she could cross over to pop easily with tracks like 'Super Bass.' Lil Wayne also dominated with his 'Tha Carter IV' album and I Am Music tour, while Katy Perry snagged a myriad of No. 1 hits off of her 'Teenage Dream' album and entertained fans across the globe on her California Dreams tour.
