2012 Billboard Music Awards Cut Off Donna Summer Dedication Performance Featuring Natasha Bedingfield
Summer had been an influential part of the music industry for the last 40 years and to have them cut to a commercial before Bedingfield could even finish the first chorus of the song just seemed downright rude.
Summer was a five time Grammy award winner, had 11 albums that went Gold in the U.S., and had placed a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in every year from 1976 to 1984. International Pop Star Natasha Bedingfield's rendition of Summer’s hit seemed to be going great when it abruptly ended for TV viewers.
Summer is unarguably one of the most successful female recording artists of our time. She passed away only a few days ago after losing to a short battle with lung cancer. We know there are obviously time constraints in an awards show but this omission was in bad taste and we can’t help but to wonder if they would have done the same thing if the tribute had been Whitney Houston’s.
