Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen are supposed to be Canadian treasures. That's why they performed at the 100th CFL Grey Cup championship football game in Toronto in their home country on Nov. 25. However, The Biebs got a less than favorable homecoming reaction from the hostile crowd. He was booed!

The crowd booed when the singer's face appeared on the JumboTron in the arena. When his name was announced by the event host, it was met with boos. The crowd also booed during his medley of 'Boyfriend' and 'Beauty and a Beat.' Clearly, this was not a crowd of Beliebers, but of football fans who aren't the target audience for or the diehard fans of these acts, hence the hostile reaction. Perhaps the event organizers were hoping to lure a younger audience to the event with these performers!

The Biebs was a consummate pro, though, acknowledging his love for his home country. "Thank you so much Canada, I love you," he declared. His performance of 'Boyfriend' was heavily choreographed, featuring dancers in varsity jackets.

Jepsen, whose career outside of Canada was jumpstarted by The Biebs, also dealt with a mixed reaction during her medley of 'This Kiss and her smash 'Call Me Maybe.' But her catchy tunes and effervescent personality did the trick for the fans jumping up and down in the front of the stage.
