Taylor Swift strummed her trusty banjo while wearing a simple, country girl dress during her performance of 'Mean,' for which picked she up two country-centric statues earlier at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Swift traded her normal red carpet and awards show glam for an Average Jane look, thanks to that unassuming, sheer floral dress and her bedheadish side braid. She could not have been any cuter.

While so many of us think of Swift as a glamazon whose natural beauty knocks the wind out of you, she bloomed tonight when she knuckled down on her six string. Swift customized the performance for the Grammys and even swapped out the lyrics about heading to the big city, instead singing, "Someday I'll be singing this song at the Grammys." Touche.

Swift's image is that of wholesome good girl, but she did look at the camera with a devilish expression and gleam in her eye multiple times, as though she was singing the kiss off lyrics to the very person she wrote the song about. She did say in her pre-telecast speech when accepting her Grammys for the song that there is nothing more vindicating than writing a song about someone who made your life miserable and winning a Grammy for it.

Grammy winners the Civil Wars, Swift's duet partners for 'Safe & Sound' from 'The Hunger Games' soundtrack, served as the 60-second opening act for the singer and then introduced her. The video for that song debuts tomorrow, by the way!
