One of the best parts of an artist releasing a single is the music video that accompanies it. This visual helps complete the musician’s vision and gives listeners an additional way to enjoy the track. The Grammy for Best Music Video honors the best visuals and this year’s candidates undoubtedly upped the bar for future artists.

The nominees are Capital Cities, ‘Safe and Sound,’ Jay Z, ‘Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film,’ Macklemore + Ryan Lewis, ‘Can’t Hold Us,’ Justin Timberlake Feat. Jay Z, ‘Suit & Tie’ and Jack White, ‘I’m Shakin.’ Who do you think should take home the Grammy?

Capital Cities burst into the music scene with their peppy, brass-tinged track ‘Safe and Sound.’ With it’s mix of black-and-white and retro, this music video suits the song’s classic vibe. We love seeing the different eras of music blended together!

Jay Z took the concept of a music video to a new level with ‘Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film.’ The video, which was performed in an art gallery, incorporates audience members. The result? A visual which literally shows Jay’s impact on his listeners.

Newcomers Macklemore + Ryan Lewis were a fresh breath of air to the hip-hop scene in 2013. Their epic music video for ‘Can’t Hold Us’ is no exception. The visual shows the duo, plus collaborator Ray Dalton, criss-crossing all ends of the earth to deliver the message of ‘The Heist.’

Justin Timberlake’s ‘Suit and Tie’ is like a well-tailored suit: classic and timeless. The black-and-white video shows JT shaking it and singing into a retro microphone. The concept is simple, but the execution is flawless.

Backed by a band and harmonizers, Jack White croons with the best of ‘em! His ‘I’m Shakin’ intersperses shots of people dancing with shots of the fedora-clad singer himself. The overall vibe is the retro-modern rock feel Jack is know for.
