Emma Stone was named Best Actress at the 2017 Academy Awards Sunday night, February 26. The actress won for her performance in La La Land, marking her first Academy Award win after two nominations. She was previously nominated for her supporting role in Birdman.

Stone took home the Oscar over fellow nominees Isabelle Huppert for Elle, Ruth Negga for Loving, Natalie Portman for Jackie and Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins.

The actress thanked her fellow nominees during her acceptance speech, telling them, "I look up to you and I admire you more than I could put into words."

She called the moment a "huge confluence of luck and opportunity," "special and one of a kind," and also thanked her co-star, Ryan Gosling, for "making [her] laugh and for always raising the bar and for being the greatest partner."

"I still have a lot of growing and learning and work to do and this [Oscar statue] is a really beautiful symbol to continue on this journey," she told the audience.

The 89th Annual Academy Awards were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. Check out our complete list of winners here.
