Several stars -- including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ruth Negga, and Karlie Kloss -- are coming out in support of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) by wearing blue ribbons on the red carpet at the 2017 Academy Awards.

Director Ava DuVernay, in a move of solidarity, also wore a dress designed by Ashi Studio from Lebanon.

The blue ribbons are part of a new "Stand with ACLU" initiative started this week by the organization in order to raise awareness for their cause. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the group reached out to all of the nominees in hopes of rallying the stars to stand with them.

According to their site, the ACLU describes their purpose as to "defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States." The group has received increased attention over the past several weeks, as Hollywood has rallied to protest against President Donald Trump's controversial immigration policies.
