Though 2NE1 has been on hiatus since releasing their 2014 album Crush, we always assumed that the group's breakout member and HBIC, CL, would be the first to officially walk away in pursuit of her already-blossoming solo career. And while we don't want to see any of our beloved 2NE1 girls peace out, that sad day has indeed come — but it's not Chaelin Lee leaving. Instead, the chart-topping K-pop group is saying farewell to Minzy.

According to a statement released by YG Entertainment, the Korean music agency that represents the band, Minzy has opted not to renew her contract with the label, and will exit the group when her contract expires on May 5, 2016. While there's no word yet on what the artist, both a singer and trained dancer, will pursue following her departure, it's likely she will seek a solo career much like fellow member CL.

YG has indicated that the parting is amicable, and that everyone's on good terms with one another regardless of the sudden shake-up. There are no current plans to add a new member to the lineup.

Despite the heartbreaking news that 2NE will be a fierce foursome no more, the label has thankfully assured fans that the remaining members — CL, Park Bom, and Sandara "Dara" Park — will continue on as a threesome, with new music planned for release as early as summer.

The news of Minzy's departure comes just months after the group surprised and shocked fans last year with an unexpected performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards on December 2. The four K-pop superstars performed their hit "Fire" and their global smash "I Am The Best."

Stay strong, Blackjacks. Stay strong.
