Some people are astrophysicists; others are neurosurgeons. The editors here at PopCrush? Well, we get to rank 5 Seconds of Summer's best covers for a living, and we are grateful AF to have jobs filled with such unimaginable bliss.

Since the band got their start by covering popular songs and uploading their vids to YouTube, let us be the first to tell you that it was seriously difficult to narrow down the group's 10 best covers, let alone rank them. (All the feels went into this feature. ALL of them.)

Even though we'll probably change our minds tomorrow (and then again, the next time the band delivers a swoon-worthy cover -- which, let's face it, will probably also be tomorrow), here's the totally official, not-at-all-influenced-by-the-appearance-of-Luke's-lip-ring order as 5SOS' covers stand today.

From the fetus to the recent, peep PopCrush's definitive ranking of 5 Seconds of Summer's 10 best covers below.

"Next to You" - Chris Brown feat. Justin Bieber

There is something to be said about 5SOS' R&B covers, namely that they are hot and please bring them back. Even though this cover was pre-Ashton (sad face), Michael, Calum and Luke brought some of our fave 5SOS qualities to the song, like the fact that they are just three teenage goofballs who just happen to have kickass harmonies and sound amazing acoustic. As powerful as Luke's voice is in this video (and please note his "ranga" hair), he hadn't yet mastered total control over his vocals, putting this cover in the No. 10 slot. (Side note: Michael's bangs are everything.)

"If It Means a Lot to You" - A Day to Remember

5 Seconds of Summer really shine on their fetus ~scene~ covers, and Luke and Michael's version of A Day to Remember's "If It Means a Lot to You" is no exception. And we're not just saying that because one time an ex-boyfriend put this song on a playlist for us.

"Forever My Father" - Go Radio

The fact that 5SOS' cover of "Forever My Father" comes in at No. 8 is a painful one, as there was a serious period of time when this PopCrush editor watched this cover 10 times on the daily. ON THE DAILY.

There are just so many things to love about this cover we don't even know where to begin: The school uniforms. The fact that Luke and Calum are singing this IN A CLASSROOM. The little dancing at the end. But most importantly, 5SOS' version of "Forever My Father" showcases just how well Calum and Luke's voices blend together and how much passion and emotion they pour into each song. Heart eye emojis for days.

    "Forever" - Chris Brown

The second Chris Brown cover to make this list, "Forever" wins all the awards because at 3:27, Luke sings falsetto and the world comes to a standstill. We also have to give serious props to Ashton for that chill-inducing "oooh" (love his voice) and his flat-ironed hair. Also, Calum's tie was a thing that happened.

"What I Like About You" - The Romantics

5SOS' cover of "What I Like About You" gets ALL the points because they've played it at practically every single awards show this season and it has never not slayed the entire audience right out of their seats. 5SOS bring the friggin' rock to this cover, and you only have to watch it (on repeat, multiple times, for days) to see why.

"The A Team" - Ed Sheeran

It could be Luke and Calum's tank tops in this video that put this cover high up on our list, but in reality it's the fact that they covered Ed Sheeran's "The A Team," and, miraculously, we're still alive. Even though this performance was back in the early days of 5SOS, it still sounds more polished than some of their earlier output but still has a raw quality that just makes the cover so ~real~. And that's exactly how the gritty track should be done.

    "I Miss You" - Blink-182

Confession: This Blink-182 cover is what hooked this PopCrush editor on 5SOS in the first place, so it earns both a special place on this list and in our hearts (awww). From the #Muke harmonies to the fact that post-fame 5SOS still cover one of their idols AND wear their matching Blink bracelets (<3), "I Miss You" is definitely one of the top songs on our list. Plus, 5SOS acoustic gives us just so much life.

    "Teenage Dream" - Katy Perry

    FUNCHLINE. That is all.

"Give Me Love" - Ed Sheeran

Our reaction to Luke and Calum's cover of Ed Sheeran's "Give Me Love" is perhaps best summed up by the top comment on the video: "WATCHING THIS IN 2015 MAKES ME WANT TO CHOP MY HAIR OFF AND EAT IT." #SAME.

"Give Me Love" earns the No. 2 spot on this list for oh so many reasons: First of all, there is literally nothing greater in this world than 5SOS covering Ed Sheeran (except for our No. 1 pick, of course). So when 5SOS covered give "Give Me Love" —  easily one of the most romantic, just-go-ahead-and-kill-us tracks that Ed Sheeran ever blessed the earth with — we have absolutely zero chill. (Special shout out to the "my, my, my, my"s in this song because they are literal perfection.)

"Jasey Rae" - All Time Low

While we agonized over the order of many of these covers, ordering, re-ordering and ordering them all yet again, we always knew that we were going to put the 5SOS version of "Jasey Rae" at No. 1.

This performance in particular (New Zealand 2012, whattup?!) is a perfect representation of all of our favorite parts of the band: You've got Luke's strong vocals ready to swoon your face right off (we Alex Mack-ed at "Lights out"), Calum coming in to take us to church at the bridge, and Michael and Ashton pretty much jamming the eff out as 5SOS practically brought out a suitcase to pack up that ending and take the song the hell home.

And while 5SOS' ATL cover should be considered a microcosm of their greatest work (and not just because once upon a time they were covering the band and now they are besties and working with them), the fan shrieking/completely losing her ish at the 2:02 mark is also a perfect representation of us. Well, at least when we watch this cover.
