50 Cent Will Only Accept Criticism From Eminem
There are a lot of things 50 Cent will do -- including offer you advice, shovel your snow and/or date Chelsea Handler -- but one thing he won't do is accept criticism of his music, unless the person giving it happens to be Eminem.
50 shared this tidbit during a joint interview with Eminem for MTV, during which the duo discussed their past together as well as 50's upcoming album, 'Street King Immortal,' currently scheduled for a February release (although we all know how these things can change). "I can't accept constructive criticism from someone if I'm not sure what their intentions are," he pointed out. "But when someone's been in my corner my entire musical career — I'll say this, [Dr.] Dre's done wonderful things for me in my career, but the idea of working with 50 Cent came from Eminem."
For his part, Eminem suggested that while he enjoys working with his protege, his input isn't really all that necessary. "I feel like I always wanna be there, just to executive produce or oversee things, but Fif knows what he's doing so I don't really gotta tell him much," he insisted. "At this point in his career, he's done enough -- he just brings me the record and I kinda always wanna give my opinion."
That's more than enough for 50, who countered Eminem's modesty by adding, "He's been a huge help on this album ... He said, 'when you tell a story, you tell it in a way nobody else can tell it, so just do that, to speak to your attributes when you're actually writing.' And then I'll walk away from the situation and even if it doesn't happen that night, I'm conscious of it."
