5 Seconds of Summer stopped by the Howard Stern Show yesterday (November 2) to perform and to sit down for a chat about songwriting, drinking and... Taylor Swift, for some reason.

The four-piece played two lead singles from their recent Sounds Good Feels Good album, "She's Kinda Hot" and "Hey Everybody," and also paid tribute to their pop punk forefathers with a cover of Green Day's "American Idiot." Their chat with Stern touched on making their sophomore LP, but focused largely on whether they live a stereotypically rock 'n roll lifestyle.

The notoriously provocative radio host asked the band if they liked to hit the booze before they hit the stage. "Does anybody got a [drinking] problem?" No, they said, because there was no time to party that hard, and it'd affect their performance. "I had a beer once before I went onstage, and I played the worst drums I've ever played," Ashton Irwin chimed in. Still digging, Stern asked if they were "experimenting with anything heavier than alcohol." No pot ("super paranoid"), no psychedelic mushrooms, ("...do you eat shrooms?"), no nothing — though copping to substance abuse would be a risky move for a group whose fanbase skews young.

They discussed grueling life on the road, the fact that they're "not millionaires yet" and the Calum Hood Snapchat Leak of 2014, in which curious fans got a look at his penis. "I was flying to Chicago and I went on Twitter and saw that and was like, f---ck," the bassist said of the leak. The band chalked it up to pre-fame naivete ("all the girl attention was new"), and said they've all seen each other's naked bodies plenty of times. As for the identity of the Snapchat's intended recipient, Calum claims not to remember.

And, of course, Stern pressed for more info on the aforementioned 'girl attention.' "How do girls get to bang you guys?" It may sadden some fans to learn that the band's allegedly too busy for hookups. "Someone tried to date Taylor Swift, I don't know who," the host asked, setting the sound bite bait. Luke Hemmings fessed up to the fact that, after chatting with the pop star at a party she threw, he went up to chat. Stern deems Taylor "super attractive" and asks whether they'd date her, regardless of the fact that she's shown zero interest and is already dating Calvin Harris. The band said no, she's "too famous" — insecure much? — and then Ashton Irwin elaborated. "

“She feels a little destructive to me,” Irwin said. “I think it’s interesting, I think it’s cool, she’s a deep thinker. She has a lot of songs about some messed up relationships. I think some good songs would come out of it.” And to put the gross-cherry on the inappropriate sundae, Stern cut to the chase: "Would you have sex with Taylor Swift?"

"I don't think I would," Ashton said. He probably won't have to worry too much about the possibility.
