In a candid radio interview with Hot 97, Chris Brown opened up about his relationship with Rihanna, revealing his motivation behind trying to get back together with her and how he's been able to move on from what happened.

When asked about the 2009 situation in which Chris Brown physically assaulted his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, he said: "It's over with. Obviously I have remorse about it and it's really serious, but as far as the situation, me and [Rihanna] made amends. We're good, she's my friend. At the end of the day I knew that was a mistake that I'll never make again."

Reiterating that he's still doing community service and seeing a judge every month and a half because of the assult, Chris states that he's trying his hardest to move forward and explains why he attempted to get back together with Rihanna: "A lot of it was on me, trying to pick up the pieces. At the end of the day I wanted to make amends to her -- to show her that I could be the man she wanted me to be."

The interview soon shifts to the topic of Rihanna dating Drake -- the two were known rivals -- and Chris admits that at the time, he felt Rihanna was dating him solely to get back at Chris: "It's understandable. It's the game, we're young." Talking about the fight Drake and Chris got into in a club, Chris said: "That was the stick-your-chest-out contest. That was 'who got the biggest account in the room.' That's all that was." He goes to explain that Drake's camp eventually called him up in an attempt to call a truce between the two.
