Aaron Carter has finally admitted that perhaps he went too far with his very public statements about wanting to win back the affections of ex girlfriend Hilary Duff.

"If I'm too open about how I feel then people wanna nag and pick and poke at me," he explained to WENN (quotes via E! Online).

"I don't know Hilary, either," he added. "She don't know me and I don't know her. I just need to shut up now about it... She's got a kid and she's married and I'm not trying to be that dude. That's not my intention."

After it was announced that Duff and husband Mike Comrie had separated earlier this year, Carter openly spoke out in interviews and social media about wanting to win Duff back.

In March, Carter went on a Twitter rant declaring his intentions and awkwardly talked about his regrets about losing her.

"Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me...," he tweeted. "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don't care what ANY of you think."

For her part, Hilary has stayed away from commenting about Aaron. In a recent interview, Duff said, "I keep seeing that, that he keeps doing that. I don’t know how I feel. I mean, that was so long ago, and obviously I’m still married, and I have a baby and we kind of just … Yeah, don’t know each, so, yeah.”
