Adam Lambert tells his fans via Twitter that they can expect to hear his new album in early 2012, with a single perhaps as early as next month.

On Monday, Lambert wrote, "And FYI I'm working hard this week and next to finish up all these amazing new tunes! Thank you all for staying patient ... I'm excited too!" He added, "I'm 90% sure the first single will be out next month (ish) album coming early 2012! ... There is still lots of work to be done but I promise: you won't be disappointed!"

Of course, these target dates often get pushed back, but Lambert's legion of fans will be thrilled if he does end up dropping a new single in October. His debut, 'For Your Entertainment,' was released in 2009 and went gold, spawning the Top 10, Grammy-nominated 'Whataya Want From Me.'

Last month, Lambert gave Access Hollywood the scoop on the sophomore record. “I’m doing a lot of writing. I have over 30 songs, 35 songs, that are in various states of completion ... I’m doing a lot more of the writing myself, it’s a bit more contemporary sounding, I think, a bit more ‘now.' And I think it’ll hopefully get people to maybe try not judging a book by its cover.”
