Adam Lambert scored the gig of a lifetime when he performed a three-song medley of Queen hits along with the remaining members of the iconic rock band at the 2011 MTV EMAs on Sunday.

For the first portion of the performance at Belfast’s Odyssey arena, the 'American Idol' alum appeared silhouetted as the audience cheered. Viewers were treated to a nearly eight-minute performance by the glam pop star and the legendary band, including smash Queen hits like 'The Show Must Go On,' 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions.'

In the past, Lambert has named Freddie Mercury one of his biggest influences, so the opportunity to stand in for his hero was undoubtedly one the singer will never forget. In fact, the 29-year-old star chose 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for his original 'Idol' audition.

Selena Gomez hosted the 2011 EMAs on Nov. 6, where Queen was honored with the Global Icon Award.
Lambert is currently working on his highly anticipated sophomore album, which he recently described as "existential pop." The as-of-yet-untitled LP is expected to be released in early 2012.
