After months of speculation, discussion and chatter, Adele officially confirmed that she is a "Bond Girl." She is indeed singing 'Skyfall,' the new 007 theme song for the upcoming 23rd installment of the long-running James Bond movie franchise.

The film is also called 'Skyfall,' and the very pregnant Adele hit Abbey Road Studios last month to lay her much adored vocals to tape for the song. She further confirmed that report when she tweeted an image of the cover to the sheet music and/or lyrics, which featured her name, pretty much telling the world what we already knew.

Another thing we learned about the song? It's so freaking good that it's actually Oscar-worthy. Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic had tweeted that he heard it and called it worthy of an Academy Award, since they do hand those out for the best song from a film. We do not doubt the quality of the song. Adele scooped up an armful of Grammys earlier this year, and after she's done scooping up her newborn baby in her arms, perhaps she'll scoop up an Oscar. It would not surprise us; she's that good.

We haven't heard a note of 'Skyfall,' but considering what we know (and love) about Adele, we are sure it will be so amazing that it will make our toes curl.

After reading the script for the film, Adele enlisted Paul Epworth to co-write and produce the theme song, which features a 77-piece orchestra. She admitted, "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for 'Skyfall.' There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!"

The singer will premiere to song via her official website on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:07PM EST. The track will be available to purchase as a download immediately after the premiere.
