Watch Adele’s ‘Live in New York’ Special in Full

Adele played her first live show on U.S. soil since 2011 at New York City’s legendary Radio City Music Hall last month, and NBC finally aired the highly anticipated special Adele Live in New York City — One Night Only last night (December 14).

After a brief introduction from Jimmy Fallon (“We’re here to see a once-in-a-generation artist”), Adele kicked off the show — appropriately — with the massive “Hello,” which was met with major applause. A visibly relieved Adele (she hit every one of those notes) told the audience: “I’m so nervous, I was trying to find the nearest exit before I came down. I haven’t done a show in four years! Thank you so much for coming.”

While tickets were extremely hard to come by for the general public, People reports celebrities including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg were in attendance. Lawrence recently spoke about her experience at the show during an interview with Z100, noting just how universal Adele’s appeal is.

She said (via Billboard), “I’m going to tear up just talking about it. My mouth is watering. Adele is the most universally accepted as the best. I’ve never seen anything like it in my entire life. I was at a restaurant and was like, these Brussels sprouts taste as good as Adele sings and [the waiter] was like, ‘Well thank you.’”

Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke (who, by the way, does a pretty good Adele impression herself) wasn’t in attendance for the performance, but she was all over Twitter last night while watching the show, posting about the special.

Adele taped the special on November 17, three days ahead of 25’s release and subsequent record-breaking chart performance. She played old staples (“Someone Like You,” “Rolling in the Deep”) but also treated the crowd to a slew of then-new songs, like “Million Years Ago” and the Bruno Mars-penned “All I Ask.”
