So much for Adele's plans to take some time off. The singer said that while her next album is still a couple years away, she wants to have a new song out before the end of 2012.

Adele told French station NRJ she won't make her fans wait too long for new music. "There will be a new song, probably coming out at the end of the year," she said. "But then it depends how quickly I write some other new songs."

Adele added that her next album "won't be for a good two years." The NRJ interviewer protested that she should release it sooner, but she responded, "Yeah, but I have to write it! It takes a while."

The big question is whether Adele's new material will be more positive, given that she's now in a happy relationship. The heartbreak is a big part of what made her first two albums, '19' and '21,' so successful. A source close to her and boyfriend Simon Konecki had earlier revealed that things are going great for the couple: "She wants to get married this year. She’s been longing to settle down with a man who will treat her well. She feels Simon is the one — and doesn’t see the point in waiting.”

'21' has spent 23 weeks at No. 1 in the U.S. and remains at in the Top 5 more than a year after its release.
