Adele, who is pregnant with her first child, doesn't rely on having to cultivate an overtly sexual image or shilling perfume in order to sell records. She has repeatedly stated that she doesn't want to be a pop star or any sort of sex symbol. But now, she is taking pop stars who get a little too salacious in their videos and performances to task.

Adele criticized the overly sexed up looks of some of her peers, declaring, "I’ve seen them up close and they don’t even look like that," according to The Sun.

She continued, "I just stand there and sing. I’m not worried that I’m a 'plus size' and so much bigger than other artists. No matter what you look like the key is to be happy with yourself."

While some may think that Adele is calling out skin-baring performers like Lady Gaga and Rihanna, her message is actually quite similar to Gaga's, who is currently taking a stand against the critics in the media who have taken to calling her fat by posting photos of her real, unaltered body. Adele and Gaga could certainly work in tandem to turn the pop world on its ear when it comes to body image.
