The Talk is about to get a little less gregarious: Aisha Tyler announced she's leaving the show after six seasons, and gave her swan song through sobs.

Tyler, known for her vulnerability on the show (she announced her divorce to her husband of 20 years just a few months ago), thanked co-panelists Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert and Sheryl Underwood for their support, but noted it was simply her time to move on.

“I have had an amazing six years with you guys,” she said. "We’ve had babies and weddings, and you know good things have happened, and you know I went through the biggest breakup of my life with you. I could not have done with this without you. I’ll never be able to thank you guys enough.”

Tyler noted that professional obligations — she's a voice on Archer, stars on Criminal Minds and hosts Who's Line Is it Anyway? — have forced her to let something go, and insisted that it was not an easy choice to step away.

“People always go ‘How to you do all that?' and I don’t always have an answer,” she said, adding that she also plans to pursue her dream of feature film directing. "I knew that was what I wanted to do the rest of my life, what I wanted to put my energy into. And I started to think about it and could not see how that would work.”
