Jay-Z protege and former ‘America’s Got Talent‘ contestant Alexis Jordan has released a new weather-themed dance-pop track called ‘Acid Rain’ that features guest verses from Roc Nation rapper J. Cole.

Reportedly written by Sia, ‘Acid Rain’ features an electro bounce opening into a sunny chorus that allows Jordan to flex her muscles vocally. “It’s like acid rain in a hurricane,” she croons, combining environmental disasters for dramatic effect.

Jordan sings about relationships challenges, although Cole’s verses have little to do with that storyline. He raps that his life is a movie and suggests that Will Smith play him in the film, then repeats the morbid warning, “One day you’re here, next day you’re gone” several times.

‘Acid Rain’ is expected to appear on Jordan’s second studio album, set for release later this year. Jordan appeared on the first season of ‘AGT’ as a 14-year-old back in 2006. Though she was eliminated before the finals, she was inspired to pursue music full-time and eventually caught the attention of Jay-Z, who signed her to Roc Nation. Her 2011 debut album produced two No. 1 singles on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
