Much like her latest single 'Girl on Fire,' Alicia Keys was on fire (excuse the pun) with her performance on 'VH1 Storytellers.' For an hour, the R&B songbird entertained the audience with amusing anecdotes behind her classic hits and her previously-unreleased songs.

Keys began her performance with a rendition of 'No One' to represent her "wholeness" as a woman, mother and artist. She also showcased a few songs from her upcoming album 'Girl on Fire' (due in stores Nov. 27), which she describes as her autobiography.

The first one was 'Brand New Me,' which is an empowering ballad that Keys says represents her feelings of "relief" in "letting go" of the heartbreak and pain that has been bottling up inside of her. "This song was born from that, being able to get those emotions off my chest [and] express the way that I'm a new person," she says.

A touching moment during the set came when Keys performed 'Not Even the King.' The R&B mom says it's her favorite song because her son, Egypt, always asks her to sing it to him. "Mommie, King," she says mimicking her son's voice.

Elsewhere in the show, Keys tells a humorous story about working with an unknown producer named Kanye West for 'You Don't Know My Know.' The 14-time Grammy winner also recounts how Jay-Z didn't like her first version of 'Empire State of Mind,' much to her chagrin.

Keys finished the show with her 2004 ballad 'If I Ain't Got You,' which is one of her favorite songs to perform. "I've always known from early on that there's more than just money or things," she says. "I know it way better now, but I’ve always known that."
