It's time for Alicia Vikander to shrug off her Oscar trophy's sheen and stow away that designer gown — where she's going, there are no dry cleaners.

After a critically acclaimed performance in The Danish Girl, Vikander has officially been cast as the famously tough Lara Croft in the next installment of Tomb Raider film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Angelina Jolie first played the character — based on the eponymous video game character — in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and, later, 2003's Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

The first Tomb Raider game, released in 1996 for Sony Playstation and PC, finds Croft on a mission to recover an ancient artifact called the Scion from a shadowy tomb in the mountains of Peru. She soon realizes, though, that the Scion is just one piece of a much larger talisman that's entangled in the mystery of Atlantis, and her quest to collect additional pieces finds her constantly in harm's way — there are others who are just as eager to collect them.

The game's considered to be a pioneer story for women characters in gameplay and has sold nearly eight-million copies worldwide. The series has since expanded to include ten titles across multiple platforms, most recently 2015's Rise of The Tomb Raider, which follows Croft to Siberia in search of the secrets of immortality.
