As if we didn't know already, Amanda Bynes has officially gone off the deep end. However, the psychiatric powers that be are now involved.

The wig-loving actress, who has become infamous for her bizarre, often offensive and sometimes dangerous behavior, has been placed on 5150 psychiatric hold after she lit a fire in a stranger's driveway.

According to TMZ, Bynes was detained after igniting a fire outside of an elderly woman's home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The poor senior citizen had no idea that Bynes had even set the blaze (a neighbor had phoned the authorities) until police came a knockin', apparently.

After cops found Bynes on the scene -- the 'She's the Man' actress was spotted nearby carrying a red gas tank and wearing burnt clothing -- they began to question her about the fire, and based on her undoubtedly insane answers, they decided she was to placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

For those of you who don't have the DSM memorized from front to back, a 5150 psychiatric hold is an order issued where a person is involuntarily committed to a mental health facility for evaluation. In order to placed under this hold, you must be deemed a threat to yourself and others, and well, starting a fire in a random Cali neighborhood seems pretty darn dangerous to us.

Bynes can only be held up to 72 hours, though, and three days does not seem like enough time to fix her ever-growing list of problems.

As our friends at StarCrush also point out, Britney Spears was placed on a 5150 hold at least twice in 2008, when she was going through her much-publicized meltdown. However, we have a feeling not even Brit would be able to talk sense into this girl.
