While hotels are typically full of strangers and travelers passing through, American Horror Story's accommodations have got at least one familiar face: Lady Gaga's.

Ryan Murphy's horror series, which returns to FX next month, cast the Cheek to Cheek crooner as its blood-drinking big-boss — but she hasn't totally ditched her identity to assume the role. In a brand new teaser making its way around the web today (September 16), Mother Monster looks very "Bad Romance"-meets-"Applause."

In the clip, featured above, an all-dressed-in-white Gaga struggles to escape an ironclad elevator before setting herself free and striding down a sterile hallway. The pristine veneer gives way to a darker, more sinister black-and-red set, and soon she's surrounded by soulless-looking creatures who compete for most nightmare-inducing cameos—some toss marbles, others stay creepily still, idly watching. But through it all, we couldn't help but wonder:

Haven't we sort of seen this before?

Gaga told Entertainment Weekly in this month's issue that the role has reawakened a part of her she'd left for dead.

"I’ve just been weeping while I’m here because I have returned to something I’ve believed in so much, which is the art of darkness,” she said. “It’s not something that everyone understands, but, for the people that do—Horror Story fans, my fans—there is a true connection between us, and it’s a language within itself."

Hang tight for the American Horror Story: Hotel premiere on October 7 on FX.
