Amber Holcomb Stuns With ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ on ‘American Idol’
19-year-old Amber Holcomb floored the ‘American Idol’ judges tonight (April 10) with her jaw-dropping rendition of Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick’s hit ‘I Say a Little Prayer,’ putting a fresh new spin on an old tune. This singer may be young, but she clearly has what it takes to be a star!
“You are unbelievable, Amber,” gushed panelist Nicki Minaj. “With that [performance], combined with everything you’ve done up until this point, you have just become my favorite girl in this competition – my absolute favorite!” She went on to (jokingly) remark, “Sometimes, when your boyfriend ain’t around, you can really focus,” referring to recently eliminated ‘Idol’ contestant Burnell Taylor.
“The competition just started tonight, y’all,” Randy Jackson chimed in. Keith Urban then praised her for staying true to who she is without overdoing it. “Right from the second those doors opened and you started singing, it was like this summer breeze just blew in, and it was just floating and it just never let me go the whole time,” he said.
What did you think of Holcomb's performance during tonight's episode? Does she have what it takes to be the next 'American Idol?'
