Rock Week continued on tonight's episode of ‘American Idol’ (April 3), and some contestants thrived while others faltered. Although rock music really isn’t his thing, New Orleans native Burnell Taylor rolled with the punches and delivered an impressionable rendition of Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name.’

“I’ve never seen you look more uncomfortable in a song,” remarked ‘Idol’ panelist Keith Urban. Despite Taylor's evident discomfort, Urban still enjoyed his performance but advised him to “make it [the song] your own; you don’t have to do it just like the original.”

Nicki Minaj said, “You still were lovable to me … like, even though rock is not your thing, I still wanted to hug you.” Randy Jackson praised him for a job well done but told him that he needs to “ride the beat harder.”

“I was proud of you, because this is definitely not the typical song that you would sing,” added Mariah Carey. “I felt like you had fun with it … all I can say is I think you did a great job.”

What are your thoughts on Taylor’s ‘Idol’ performance tonight? Do you think he did the popular rock song justice? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
