Candice Glover kicked off tonight’s Motown episode of ‘American Idol’ (March 27) with a bang, treating us to a stellar rendition of Marvin Gaye’s smash hit, ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine.’ Her performance was poised, passionate and solid, chock full of confidence and effortless vocals.

All four ‘Idol’ panelists were blown away by her delivery and showered her with compliments. Keith Urban called it her best performance yet. Nicki Minaj echoed his words of praise, applauding her for staying true to herself. “You do a great job of not overdoing it, so when you do those amazing riffs and runs … we can all appreciate it," she said.

“You’ve got one of the best voices this year in the competition," chimed in Randy Jackson. "I thought it was an amazing job … just crazy good." “In a lot of ways, you epitomize what this competition is,” added Mariah Carey. She went on to voice her appreciation of the singer's old school, soulful version of the song that was both “gritty” and “pretty” in all the right places.
