The level of competition has been remarkably high on 'American Idol' tonight (April 25), and after a stunning performance from Joshua Ledet, Elise Testone took the stage and proved that she's a true rocker at heart. Testone, who has continually been encouraged to choose the right song, did just that with Queen's 'I Want It All' for her first song.

Tambourine in hand and looking like a rocker in every way with her blonde locks flowing, Testone landed right in her niche with this song. The only thing she left us wishing was that she would show a little more expression on her face.

When the rockin', uptempo number ended, the judges were left stumbling over their words once again. "Elise, you found your stride," Steven Tyler began. "That’s what we’ve been waiting for you to do. You sang that like the classical song it was -- if not even better tonight.”

Jennifer Lopez agreed, saying, "It was natural, it was sexy … you look great, you sounded great.” And then Randy Jackson completed the praise, offering, "I mean, gosh. Wow! What a night so far. That was unbelievable as well. That style of song is so right for you … it allows you to do your Janis thing in the middle. Brilliant."

For her second performance, Testone took on Jimi Hendrix's 'Bold as Love.' Clad in a bright blue dress with a colorful train attached to a ring on her right finger, Testone wowed us once again with her striking similarities to the iconic Janis Joplin, transporting us back to a time when blues rock and psychedelic music were first emerging as mainstream genres.

“Elise, Elise, Elise," Tyler cut in. "I love the Janis Joplin about you …" Still, he told her she should pick a song that people know (maybe he doesn't know about the John Mayer cover). "I thought everybody knew that song," Elise said, but Tyler advised (in his typical way) "You can't pick the cherries with your back to the tree."

Lopez agreed with Tyler's point, but said she really didn't care because Testone absolutely slayed the song. "For me," Jackson disagreed, "it wasn’t the right song for this time in the competition. I feel like you kind of attacked the song." As he tried to explain that Hendrix was playing and singing and only sang about "1/25" of what Testone sang, you couldn't even hear him finish over the shouts of Lopez saying, "No! No! She made it exciting."

The judges weren't in total agreement, but they all seemed to agree that Testone can absolutely rock with the best of 'em.
