Garrett Miles Impresses Judges on ‘American Idol’ [VIDEO]

One of our favorite things about 'American Idol' is the focus on both the natural talent aspect that should be inherent in a performer and the character and stage-presence that's necessary to truly be successful. Not everyone has the total package, and 'Idol' does a good job at recognizing the necessity in having everything in one person. So now that we're on season 14 of the insanely successful show, we figured we'd seen it all. But then Garrett Miles auditioned and totally blew us away.

Garrett has optic nerve hypoplasia which makes him effectively blind in both eyes. But that hasn't stopped him from pursuing his dreams. He started singing when he was ten years old, with his father in his corner as his biggest fan.

He dove right into his own version of 'Proud Mary' by Creedence Clearwater Revival and totally made the song his own. All three judges loved his interpretation, and we were definitely onboard at that point. But then he went and impressesd us even further with a stellar, off-the-cuff rendition of Selena's iconic hit 'Como La Flor' -- which judge Jennifer Lopez knows very well, seeing as she played Selena in her biopic. It was a fantastic version, and Garrett rightfully earned himself a golden ticket.
