‘American Idol’ Contestant Paul McDonald Marries ‘Twilight’ Star Nikki Reed

Former 'American Idol' contestant Paul McDonald has married his girlfriend, 'Twilight' actress Nikki Reed! According to Us Weekly, the couple tied the knot in front of 100 guests on Sunday, Oct. 16 at a private ranch in Malibu, Calif.

"We couldn't be happier!" the newlyweds told Us Weekly. "[We were] surrounded by our family and friends. We're so glad this day has come!"

McDonald, 27, and Reed, 23, started dating in April 2011 and were engaged by June. The couple met in March at the premiere of 'Little Red Riding Hood.' "You're amazing," Reed told McDonald when they first met. "I'm blushing! I should go."

Shortly after they began dating, McDonald -- a Nashville native who made it through to the top 10 on Season 10 on 'American Idol' -- moved into Reed's home in LA. The singer also told Us that he and Reed had a "weird" connection that both of them recognized right off the bat.

Even though his wifey portrays a Cullen in the wildly successful 'Twilight' series, McDonald also admitted that he had never seen her movies when they first started dating. "I haven't ever actually watched any of her movies. I don't know too much of her career at all, but the person she is is super cool," he said.

Although he isn't familiar with her work, McDonald is head over heels for Reed. He has gushed over his bride in the past, telling MTV News, "She's amazing. She's the perfect girl. We fit each other; when you know, you know, and she's the one."
