They tried to make her go to rehab, and finally, she said yes. Amy Winehouse checked into rehab on Wednesday for a continuing struggle with alcohol addiction, thanks to her dad.

Dad to the rescue -- a source close to the singer says that Mitch Winehouse sat down with his daughter to press her towards a better solution for her problem. "Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again,'" the source reveals. "So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem."

Though it took a big force to get her there, Winehouse is committed to recovering. "She's determined, and this is all off her own back," the source says. "It's just a lapse. There are ups and downs on the road, and there have been mostly ups recently. But this is a down and she's done the right thing and gone to rehab."

The 27-year-old performer has "embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic," according to her rep, and "wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors' advice."

Reportedly, in "typical Amy style," the 'Rehab' singer guzzled a tiny bottle of vodka on the way to the clinic. Hey, they don't call her Winehouse for nothin'!

Amy Winehouse kicks off her summer tour on June 18 in Serbia.
