Jean Paul Gaultier was trying to pay the utmost respect to the late Amy Winehouse with his clothing line, inspired by the singer, but after setting it on the runway in Paris on Wednesday, some people are wondering if he was able to pull it off.

The fashion designer primped his models to look nearly identical to Winehouse, sporting tall hair, long lashes, smoking cigarettes and even a single mole on their upper lip. Meanwhile, as the models walked the fashion plank, a live quartet belted out their best rendition of 'Rehab,' as if they were trying out for 'Glee,' according to Spin.

As for the clothes themselves, they'd probably be right up Amy's alley -- the Daily Telegraph reported that "Gaultier did Amy proud," while the New York Times critic agreed, saying his designs brought "chaotic essence in a marvelous show."

But not everyone was floored by the designer bringing the dead to life on stage. "No, no, no!" the Independent said simply, adding later that Gaultier "hits all the wrong notes" with his spring line. PopCrush's two cents? It was a pretty tasteful way to honor the singer, and we'd love to see if any of the ensembles end up on this year's red carpets.
