Ariana Grande is all about gender equality, and during a radio interview this week, the pop star brought up sexism during a conversation about phones and emojis.
While chatting with Power 106 on Thursday (Oct. 29) to promote her new single “Focus,” the starlet took exception to DJs Justin Credible and Eric D-Lux’s questions as it related to women and their cell phones.
When asked which item she’d like to be able to use one last time, make-up or her cell phone, Grande responded, “Is that what you think girls have trouble choosing between? Is this what men assuming that that’s what girls would have to choose between?”
Later, the two hosts asked Grande for her thoughts about the new emojis that Apple recently added to iPhones.
“The unicorn [emoji] is great, obviously,” she commented before Eric interjects with “Girls” with a begrudging tone.
“Many boys use the unicorn,” Grande slams back. “You need a little brushing up about equality. Who says the unicorn emoji isn’t for men?”
Even though the three were having a playful discussion, Grande took some time to talk about the issues she cares most about. The two later asked the Scream Queens star what she would like to change most about the world.
“I think judgement in general. Intolerance, meanness, double standards, misogyny, racism, sexism. All that s—. That’s what we need to focus on. We’ve got work to do.”
