It's easy to forget that Pink (real name Alecia Moore) was once a member of the girly R&B trio Choice. The group's album was never released (though their single 'Key to My Heart' was featured on the 'Kazaam' soundtrack), and Pink subsequently began work on her first solo record, 'Can't Take Me Home.'

Her edgy vocals paired with the leftover R&B sensibilities of Choice and a little pop-rock flavor made her an instant success, but she was eager to leave the manufactured pop image behind.

In 2001 she released 'Misundaztood,' a record for which she wrote her own songs with the help of 4 Non Blondes' Linda Perry. The album was a little darker, and it worked. Pink has been a pop mainstay for over a decade.
