Pop music's punk rock princess Avril Lavigne has a snazzy sense of style -- yet she shows off a more mature look on the cover of the March issue of the Australian version of men's mag FHM.

Av has ditched her usual ensemble that normally consists of her signature black hoodies, leggings, tulle skirts, combat boots, sneakers and fingerless gloves in favor of a skintight purple mini dress. It's off the shoulder with extra long sleeves and it clings to every one of Avril's enviable curves.

The cover tag even calls out her tomboy and pop princess images, and this image indicates that perhaps the Canadian singer is shedding that tag once and for all.

Even so, the inky black eyeliner remains a part of her look, and her stick-straight locks are longer and healthier than ever. Lavigne is such a natural beauty and this shot shows her in a sexy light.

It makes us anxious to hear new music from the singer sooner than later!
