When you're as animated as the notoriously outspoken rapper Azealia Banks, getting into feature film seems like an eventual given.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Banks, a (begrudging) 2015 BET Awards nominee, will test out her acting chops as lead in the upcoming Coco, which also stars Common, Jill Scott, Lucien Laviscount, and Hana Mae Lee. WuTang Clan's RZA, who previously oversaw 2012's The Man with the Iron Fists, will direct the film, which is slated for a 2016 release.

Coco will follow a promising young musician whose record deal disappears before her eyes. Still, all hope will not be lost when the character returns to college, as she'll tap into a love of slam poetry that she never knew she had. Hmm...any chance the actress in question has experience reciting stanzas in conjunction with a specific beat?

Banks released Broke With Expensive Taste last year, which spawned singles "Heavy Metal and Reflective" and "Chasing Time." The album was a critical hit, but Banks hasn't always landed in the good graces of her peers. She's infamously engaged in Twitter wars with the likes of Rita Ora, Lady Gaga and, as recently as last December, tweeted that she'd throw a "jar of piss" at Iggy Azalea given the chance. Let's hope all container and container-adjacent objects are hidden around set...

Will Coco make your must-see list next year? Tell us if you're a fan of Banks, and if you're excited to see her silver-screen debut!
