Update: We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but it looks like this epic world tour was just to good to be true. According to MTV News, a rep for BSB stated that the BSB/Spice Girls world tour is a no-go. (We'll just be over here, crying into our '90s-era posters.)

It's like all of our '90s nostalgia was gearing up for this moment: the Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls may be doing a reunion tour together! Brian Littrell of BSB was the one to allegedly reveal the Internet-breaking news himself.

“We are actually in early talks about maybe doing a world tour together with the Spice Girls,” Littrell reportedly revealed to UK newspaper The Sun (via MTV UK).

(We'll pause for a moment to let the fangirl shrieks commence. We mean, we'll let the news sink in.)

If this really does happen, it would make total sense. After all, '90s nostalgia is at an all-time high, with the Backstreet Boys set to embark on a tour with Avril Lavigne and having already toured with New Kids on the Block. The Spice Girls have also reunited for a tour in the past (and most recently at the 2012 Summer Olympics)… not to mention, Posh Spice herself just took us all on a stroll down memory lane when she tweeted a picture of Spice Girls pizza.

With all of those irrefutable hints, could a BSB/Spice Girls tour really be that far off? Only time will tell, but we're already impatient.
