‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win,’ a track from the Beastie Boys’ 2011 album ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two,' was carried by Santigold’s vocals, along with some reggae-inspired instrumentation.

The Major Lazer remix kept the focus on the R&B singer while incorporating additional percussion. Santigold sings, “At one time you were slick and your grill was cold / And now funny how the s--- gets old / You can run, you can run, but it will catch up / Now see me, I'll show you up.

The Beasties mostly came off as complementary players in the remix, but they did add a few short rhymes: “Now you wanna get back when you had your shine / But you run the same thing every time when you rhyme / Can't stop, won't stop, no compromise / It's a house of cards built out of lies.

The mashup of sounds was a fitting remix for the Beastie Boys, who spent much of their careers experimenting with various styles in their music. ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’ was the last Beasties record released before the death of Adam “MCA” Yauch. The album reached No. 2 on the charts with 128,000 copies sold in its first week.
