‘Beauty and the Beast’ Will Be Adapted Into a Live-Action Film
Following the success of movies like 'Maleficent' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' Disney is working on yet another live-action fairy tale reboot.
Variety reports that Bill Condon is attached to direct the revamped version of 'Beauty and the Beast.' Twihards might recognize his name from his role as the director of 'Breaking Dawn' parts 1 and 2, although Condon also adapted 'Dreamgirls' and wrote the script for the movie version of 'Chicago.' He won an Oscar for the 'Gods and Monsters' screenplay.
Disney revamps seem to be picking up steam, as the House of Mouse also rebooted 'Alice in Wonderland' and is currently developing updated versions of 'Cinderella' and 'The Jungle Book.' As of press time, no names have been attached to star in the live-action reboot of 'Beauty and the Beast.'
The 1991 cartoon adaption of 'Beauty and the Beast' was a massive success, grossing more than $170 million worldwide in its opening weekend. It was also nominated for four Academy Awards, winning the Oscar for Best Original Score.
