There were so many (seriously, so many!) amazing performances at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards last night, from Taylor Swift to 5 Seconds of Summer to Beyonce and everyone in between. It's a tough choice, but we have to ask: Whose performance was best?

Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J kicked off the show with a medley of Ari's hit 'Break Free' and Nicki's 'Anaconda' before they all joined forces for 'Bang Bang.' Nicki may have suffered a wardrobe malfunction during the performance, but that definitely didn't stop the trio from putting on one seriously amazing (and sexy) opening number.

Taylor Swift certainly silenced the haters with her insanely energetic performance of 'Shake It Off,' flaunting her dance moves and svelte figure in a silver sparkly crop top and matching high-waisted shorts. Taylor has said that '1989' will be her first purely pop album, and with her totally carefree and upbeat performance, we can't wait to see what she in store.

Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me' is one of the hottest songs of the year, and we never tire of seeing the British crooner perform the emotional hit with his deliciously rich and unique voice. 'Stay With Me' may be a slower ballad, but Sam Smith's performance was just as compelling as all of the other numbers.

5 Seconds of Summer fans couldn't wait for the group to grace the VMAs stage for the first time, and their performance of 'Amnesia' certainly didn't disappoint. Luke, Calum, Michael and Ashton all brought the energy, passion and enthusiasm that is a 5SOS show trademark.

Usher and Nicki Minaj may have both donned all-white ensembles for their rendition of 'She Came to Give It to You,' but there was nothing innocent about the sexy performance, which even included Usher slapping Nicki's butt at one point. Whoa!

Maroon 5 took to the outdoor stage to perform two of their hits -- 'Maps' and 'One More Night' -- in front of a crowd of super pumped fans. We love how Adam Levine totally slowed down and elongated each opening note of 'Maps,' but then quickly kicked it into high gear for the rest of the performance.

Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora absolutely nailed their edgy performance of 'Black Widow,' rocking two seriously sexy black ensembles that only helped to showcase the killer song. And anything that pairs Iggy's slick rhymes with Rita Ora's smooth vocals is a winner in our book. Just how badass are they when they perform together?

Is it even possible to sum up Beyonce's insane closing performance? The Video Vanguard winner performed an epic medley of some of her newest hits, opening with ‘Mine’ before launching into ‘Haunted,’ ‘Pretty Hurts,’ ‘No Angel,’ ‘Jealous,’ ‘Blow,’ ‘Drunk in Love,’ ‘Rocket,’ ‘Partition,’ ‘Superpower,’ ‘Flawless,’ ‘Yonce,’ ‘Blue’ and ‘XO.’ And the only thing that topped Queen Bey's unbelievable closing number? Her reaction when Jay Z and Blue Ivy presented the award to her onstage.
