When it comes to celebrity deaths, 2016 has been brutal. From David Bowie to Prince to Carrie Fisher, many iconic and beloved stars have passed away this year. But one man has made it his mission to protect a certain 94-year-old Golden Girl from a similar fate: Betty White.

A California man named Demetrios Hrysikos launched a GoFundMe campaign to "Help protect Betty White from 2016" on Tuesday, December 27, just hours after news circulated that Star Wars icon Fisher had died.

"Help 2016 catch these hands if it goes anywhere near Betty White! If she's okay with it I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan 1, 2017," Hrysikos wrote on the campaign page, which has already raised over $6,000.

Thankfully, according to her representative Jeff Witjas, White is very much alive and healthy and currently on vacation, CNN reports.

"Betty and I have a deal that she will live until at least 100, as I have booked her to work and Betty's word is Golden," Witjas told CNN.

Instead, the money raised by Hrysikos will actually be donated to the Spartanburg, California Little Theatre.

"We need new artists to carry the mantel of all the great ones we lost this year so keep sharing and donating to ensure a better 2017 for the arts," he shared on GoFundMe.
