Beyonce Repurposes Prince’s ‘Darling Nikki’ as Tribute to Nicki Minaj

The music video for "Feeling Myself" ignited feelings of intense jealousy in the majority of those who watched it -- Beyonce and Nicki Minaj's tight friendship seems like the kind of close bond most people only dream of, you know? Then Beyonce further solidified those feelings of envy.when she created a short, a cappella tribute to Nicki ...done in the style of Prince.

Just days after performing together for the TIDALX1020 benefit concert, Beyonce posted a short, unofficial cover of the classic Prince song "Darling Nikki" to her YouTube page, with the lyrics repurposed to apply to Nicki Minaj. In the clip, which plays over black-and-white footage of Nicki and Beyonce rehearsing onstage together, Beyonce sings, "I met this girl named Nicki I guess you could say she was the rap queen / I met her in the studio lobby but her booty looked bigger in the magazines / She said Bey would you jump on this song of mine / How could I resist when I heard little Nicki rhyme?"

Beyonce also posted a video to Facebook earlier today showing her and Nicki in rehearsal for their "Feeling Myself" performance where Beyonce challenges the rapper to a staring contest. She says, "By the way, ice grill me as long as you can. Let's have a contest. Let’s see who cracks first. I have a feeling Im gonna crack first."
