Beyonce Dazzles in Red McQueen for Vogue Spread, Says New Album is ‘More Sensual’

Beyonce covers the March 2013 issue of Vogue! It’s her second turn on the cover of the fashion bible, this time for the Power Issue.

The images from the spread are as high fashion as it gets, shot by Patrick Demarchelier and feature the whimsical clothes of Alexander McQueen (like the red, tiered organza dress, where she is standing and being photographed on the sly); Marni (the black wool-and-silk blend top paired with striped pants); and Oscar de la Renta (the confectionary red ruffled gown she wears while laying down, pictured above).

The ensembles in the spread are a far cry from the too-casual pantsuit in which she showed up to the 2013 Grammys. These fashions are suitable for Bey, not that color-blocked, “I’m on my way to lunch” suit she donned.

The writer reveals Bey is still tinkering with her fifth solo album, since she is a perfectionist. “I’m going to be tweaking,” the singer said. “I still have things to figure out.” No rush, Bey — we want it when you think we’re ready to have it.

Becoming a mother and the transformation that her body went through is impacting this new album, the follow up to ’4.’

Bey says her new music “is a lot more sensual… empowering. Right now, after giving birth, I really understand the power of my body. I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it. Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame.”

Who runs the world? Girls, that’s who. But more specifically — Bey runs the world.

The singer shared that her daughter Blue Ivy has forever changed her, which is not a new or novel concept. Bey confessed that her true maternal chip clicked around eight months, which was around December 2011, since baby Blue made her grand entrance in January of 2012.

“I felt very maternal around eight months,” the queen reveals. “And I thought I couldn’t become any more until I saw the baby… But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain. We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.”

She also reveals how it was giving birth. Like the actual process. “My family and my closest people were there when I gave birth,” the diva revealed. “Everything that scared me just was not present in that room. So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction… it was the best day of my life.”

Now that’s how you give birth, ladies. Bey is superhuman, ain’t she?
