OutKast rapper Big Boi is currently working with indie rockers Modest Mouse for their upcoming new album. The Atlanta-based songwriter/producer has been vocal about the collaboration on Twitter, checking in with fans from his Modest Mouse studio sessions.

On April 25, Big Boi tweeted that he and OutKast producer Chris Carmouche were working hard on new tracks for the band. "Me and @mouche1 in the studio workin with Modest Mouse on their new album Turnt up !" he wrote. "Shout out to Issac and the crew!"

The unlikely pairing has resulted in a strong bond, as the rapper tweeted "Modest Mousin' it" just one day later, and gushed about the six-piece in yet another tweet on April 27.  "Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new mouse LP," he said. "Coolest cats ever. Long Live The Funk."

The new album will be the follow-up to Modest Mouse's 2007 release 'We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.' A release date for the record has not yet been set. Modest Mouse will appear at the 2011 Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington on Sunday, May 29.
