After Bill Maher was criticized for his joke about Zayn Malik and the Boston Marathon bomber two weeks ago, the comedian has finally addressed the commotion. However, it might not be the apology Directioners were hoping for.

The Real Time with Bill Maher host addressed the controversy surrounding the joke by breaking the skit down in a new segment called "Explaining Jokes to Idiots” last night (April 10). In the video, Maher explained each part of the previous joke, stopping in certain areas to tell the audience what he meant. Saying that he isn't a 12-year-old girl but a 28-year-old man, Maher revealed that he actually didn't even know who Zayn is.

Responding to the part in the previous skit where he said, "Just tell me two things, Zayn. Which one in the band were you?”

"Here are where we get to in the comedy business call the 'old switcheroo'," he explained in the video. "Where my previous sentiments are revealed to be sarcastic, and we reveal that in reality I don't know who this guy is nor do I give a s---."

As the video progresses, the late night host and comic continues to talk about the fact he really has no idea who the former One Direction member is and even admitted that he initially pronounced Zayn's name incorrectly during rehearsals. As you watch the clip, Maher was unapologetic about the whole thing and says that the only reason he put the Zayn's pic next to accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is because the two do look alike.

Well Directioners, how do you feel about Maher's explanation?
